Filipinos share an undeniable love for basketball. One would see basketball courts everywhere in the Philippines. Here, in Republic Cement, we are not an exemption. Spearheaded by the Republic OpEx Team, the annual Republic Cup interplant basketball tournament was held last month in Toby’s Sports Arena and Lyceum Gymnasium.
The objective of the 2-day tournament is to promote physical fitness and further develop teamwork and camaraderie amongst our employees. Moreover, exercise is crucial to staying fit and healthy, which ultimately improves productivity.
With sportsmanship and safety in mind, 7 teams successfully competed for the championship trophy. A 3-point shootout and a muse competition further added excitement to the event. In the end, the Team Dasig, composed of Iligan and Danao players, was hailed as the champion.
