Republic Cement's ecoloop remains committed to environmental stewardship, continuing in its efforts to provide sustainable and reliable waste management solutions to both public and private sectors.

Republic Cement’s ecoloop has been recognized by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) during the EPR Recognition Awards, held on January 30, 2026, at the New World Makati Hotel, celebrating organizations advancing responsible waste management in the Philippines.

Strengthening its legacy as a trusted cement manufacturer in the Philippines, Republic Cement continues to deliver high‑quality, environmentally responsible cement while supporting local government units (LGUs) and manufacturers through its waste‑to‑cement initiatives.

At the forefront of these efforts is ecoloop, Republic Cement’s resource recovery arm, which pioneered the use of alternative fuels in Philippine cement manufacturing more than 25 years ago. By reusing qualified waste as alternative fuel and raw material, ecoloop reduces reliance on fossil fuels while diverting residual waste away from landfills and waterways.

In support of the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act (RA 9003), ecoloop works closely at the grassroots level with cities and municipalities, waste consolidators, junk shops, and everyday waste workers. These partnerships enable the efficient channeling of residual waste to Republic Cement facilities, where it is co‑processed safely and responsibly as alternative fuel.

Republic Cement also collaborates with leading manufacturing companies nationwide to help recover and co‑process post‑consumer waste in compliance with the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) Law.

Even before the law’s passage, ecoloop had already begun co‑processing residual plastics in 2018 with early‑adopter multinational partners—creating a practical pathway toward plastic neutrality in the Philippines, particularly in a sachet‑intensive market.

To date, Republic Cement has successfully co‑processed more than 220 billion plastic sachets, significantly reducing plastic leakage into the environment.

Living up to its tagline, “Dito na sa may Katibayan,” Republic Cement’s ecoloop was honored by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) during the EPR Recognition Awards Ceremony on January 30, 2026, in recognition of the program’s effective multi‑sectoral approach.

“This milestone reflects a collective effort made possible by our partners who want to make a difference. With Republic Cement, responsibility becomes a shared journey toward a stronger, cleaner, and greener Philippines,” said Angela Edralin‑Valencia, Director of ecoloop.

Republic Cement has partnered with local government units across Luzon and Mindanao, alongside private sector organizations seeking support for EPR compliance, as it continues its mission to close the loop and mitigate plastic pollution in the country.
