Open Day held at Republic Cement Batangas Plant

Republic Cement Batangas Plant hosted an Open Day event attended by 34 chapel leaders from six sitios in Mapulo, Bilogo, and Sico in Batangas, together with the Parish Priest of Dagatan and the San Lorenzo Ruiz Kids Choir. The theme of the day was “Giving Thanks towards a Stronger Republic.”

For the Open Day, the guests were warmly welcomed by the VP of Operations and Plant Manager Manny Amante, after a brief safety orientation by the plant’s Safety Officer. Prior to embarking on the plant tour, the guests first learned about Republic Cement’s mission, vision, and values, as well as its products and history. The Sustainability Team of Quarry, Environment, and Community Relations also presented their respective initiatives to further acquaint the guests with the company.

The presentation highlighted the lifting of quarry suspension brought about by the unfortunate landslide incident in Naga, Cebu. The Batangas Plant is the first quarry operations in the Philippines that had resumed operations as a testament to its commitment to safety and environmental responsibility.

During the plant tour, some of the guests shared their confidence and gratitude upon seeing the plant’s facilities and listening to the company’s future plans to care for its surrounding communities. After the Cebu landslide, people needed the assurance from Republic Cement that measures are being implemented to prevent similar incidents in their neighborhood.

To conclude, the Batangas plant management team requested its guests to include the safety of the plant, its employees, and host communities in their prayers.
