Scholars’ Day held in Bulacan Plant

Republic Cement Bulacan plant held two simultaneous events – Arbor Day celebration and Plant Open Day.

Dubbed as the Scholars’ Day, the Bulacan plant welcomed 30 scholars from our community, 11 of which were newly qualified as college assistance program scholars for SY 2019-2020, for the day’s activities.

The day began with a bamboo planting activity that was graced by the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Region III Director Engr. Alilo Ensomo and Mines Environment, Safety and Social Division Chief Engr. Lauro Garcia. The team planted a number of bamboo varieties in the south extension portion of the Bulacan Quarry as part of our rehabilitation program.

For the afternoon activity, the students were given a plant tour. The plant tour gave an overview of the cement manufacturing process from the preparation of the raw mix, burning, milling, to packaging. Our team representatives further shared about sustainable practices embedded in producing cement.

With these activities, we hoped to expose our youth to our sustainability initiatives to ingrain into them our vision of fostering a greener and stronger Republic.
